Meet LM Studio Bionic, the next generation of LM Studio designed for agentic work with open models.
Bionic is the AI agent for getting real work done with open models, including coding, research, and complex work with documents and files. You can use local models or switch to open-source models in the cloud for heavier tasks, all while staying in control of your privacy and AI spend.
What you can do
Bionic has two project types:
- Work Projects for research, writing, analysis, and document work.
- Code Projects for working in a local codebase with file, search, Git, and shell tools.
Within a project, create separate sessions for separate tasks. Run multiple sessions across projects to parallelize your workflows.
Choose where a model runs
A Bionic session can use:
- Frontier open models running in LM Studio Secure Cloud with Zero Data Retention.
- Local models running on your computer.
- Remote models from another device through LM Link.
How this differs from LM Studio
Bionic is a new, separate app from LM Studio. For advanced low-level configuration, you can continue to use LM Studio alongside Bionic.
